Hey guys, I hope I am not getting too much on your nerves with my hourly questions. This is the first year playing and I already learned a lot through this forum and made a lot of trades in my favor. Thanks a lot for that! I used to collect real NBA cards back in the day in a US sport shop over here in Germany. I always hang out there after school with other kids and the chubby guy who worked there had to put up with a lot from us I have a decent deck and just finished collecting the Opening Day series. Unfortunately one day too late for the reward. TOPPS just announced that the Sabers will go sold out in a few days and I am only missing a few there. However, Trout is one of the ones I am missing. I don't think I will be able to get him without giving up something I don't want to, unless I can trade the Opening days for something good. The question I have is if it would make sense to keep on to the opening days or if I should move on to collect the next series where I actually will have a chance to get a coins/card reward. Is it out of question that there will be another award for holding on to the opening day series? My first thought was to hold on to the opening days and hopefully they become more valuable later on but with the way TOPPS is flooding the market with new inserts on a daily basis my guess is that this won't be the case. Btw, I am currently collecting the ECs and POW as well. Any suggestions, opinions or some general advise is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance! Cheers from Germany Simon

As far as what you want to collect, that is a personal preference. The two trends I've seen over 3 years are that cards are the hottest when they first come out or when they are old enough to be significantly out of supply. I'd imagine OD cards will be more valuable 3 months from now when new bunters will pay a premium for cards they missed out on. Similarly, the best time to trade for a set cheaply is right after the award expires. Unless you have unlimited funds, you should focus on a collecting strategy. Mines goes in this order: 1- Cardinals cards, rarer the better 2 - Sigs 3 - Sets I target 4 - individual cards I covet 5 - Points cards 6 - completing base sets Most of my trades fall in the 4, 5, 6 category as there are more trading partners that live in this space. Good luck and let me know if I can help out.

Hey guys, ... Cheers from Germany Simon Good thoughts! Good luck and let me know if I can help out. Awesome, thank you very much! Your point with buying after the award expires is valid but I don't really see a point in it. Unless you are fond of that series of course. The sigs are a mystery to me. Yeah they are cool but I feel many just overvalue them by a lot. I find it funny how everyone just gets crazy about the next big thing once a new card is out. It's not like you can do something with it right away besides bragging rights I guess. With all that being said it makes sense why people value certain cards that way. I am the two rarest cards away of completing the Saber series but it will be tough without letting anyone from my opening day series go. At this point I am just not sure if I want to wait a few months till they regain more value. However, I still could not bring myself to break it up yet :/

I'm new this year too, and I can tell you that I got caught up in the insert chase and it is not fun. Now I try to trade for golds and get the inserts I want once a bonus is over. Seems like people like to dump them after that.

Bonuses this year are not worth the chase.

Thanks guys. Really appreciate all the comments!
Keeping my opening day set for now and also have the Sabers complete besides Trout. I still don't know if I have to trade for him to get an award or not.
