Offer the other person a card or cards they need unless they ask otherwise. Baffles me how many people offer me trades for cards I only have singles of and they offer me a card I already have for it.....
NEVER trade in desperation for a card you want as you'll always end up overpaying drastically.
Also don't be afraid to play hardball and speak in a trade. Much easier to get a trade done when there's a conversation about what the other person is looking for rather than loads of blind counters.
