First Team CF TROUT 2B PHILLIPS 1B VOTTO 3B MIGGY SS SEGURA LF HARPER RF BRUCE C POSEY DH ORTIZ P SCHERZER Second Team CF CHOO 2B PEDROIA 1B DAVIS RF TORII HUNTER LF CRAWFORD 3B HANLEY DH NAPOLI SS HARDY C MARTINEZ VICTOR P KERSHAW Well Tim you seem very baseball educated and I love debating about the sport so I'm going to tear your list apart just for fun, not relating to the contest and I'd love to hear your responses to what I have to say (and feel free to criticize my list!)
1. No McCutchen on either list?!?!? He was the NL MVP man, and pretty heavily favored for that too. Now myself I love Choo which is why I shifted him to RF on my list just to include him but I still would rank McCutchen way ahead of him. 2. Even though I'm not a fan of Robby Cano he's a pretty good 2nd Baseman, although your two picks are respectable. 3. I agree with your 1st Base picks even though that's not what I went with, it's a very deep position 4. I like Bruce and think he's a top tier player, however I think Stanton deserves to at least be in the top 2. 5. Would've put Gonzalez instead of Crawford, never liked Crawford and how he played but I guess I just have northeast bias 6. I agree with your picks at 3rd base 7. Not going to complain with your DH too, maybe Fielder instead of Napoli but still good picks. 8. Awww man how could you not include Tulo! I think he's pretty unanimous for best shortstop, I'd also include a healthy Reyes over the two you picked; maybe even Desmond, Andrus, and at a long shot Simmons are better than Segura and Hardy but they're still high quality players. 9. No Yadier upsets me too! Victor's good but his defense doesn't come close to Yadi and that alone should boost him up in your rankings. 10. No problem with your pitchers, I'd probably swap them but they were definitely the best two pitchers in each league this year.
I was tired when I did mine. You are right. I should have added some of those

Even as a Tigers fan I admit Scherzer had ridiculous run support last season. I'd rather take a player that has had multiple good seasons.

I might as well start participating in the site, lol.
1st Team LF Trout CF McCutchen 3B Cabrera DH Davis 1B Goldschmidt RF Beltran 2B Pedroia SS Desmond C Molina P Kershaw
Notes: Trout at leadoff for speed, contact, and a little pop. McCutchen at the 2 spot for exact same reasons. Cabrera batting 3rd because he's the best hitter in the league right now, hands down. Davis batting cleanup because of his massive power, also protects Miggy so that they have no choice but to pitch to him. Goldschmidt in the 5th spot, he also protects Miggy and Davis. He has lots of pop as well. Beltran is 6th, he is a solid hitter who gets great contact, walks a bunch, and he can hit the clutch homer once in a while, also gives protection to the 4&5 hitters. Pedroia 7th for contact and some pop. Desmond 8th for contact and some pop. Yadi at the bottom for contact, high OBP, no one in this lineup can be easily pitched too. Kershaw was arguably the best pitcher in the MLB this year. No need to explain why I chose him.
2nd Team CF Gomez SS Ramirez (LAD) 2B Cano 1B Votto LF Jones DH Holliday 3B Longoria C Santana RF Cuddyer P Darvish
Notes: Gomez batted cleanup for the Brewers for most of the season, but I feel he's more of the leadoff type of hitter. He has great speed, a solid contact hitter, and his ability to hit home runs is a plus. Hanley batted 2nd a lot during his time in Miami, Florida so I decided to put him there. He is also a solid contact hitter, but with more power than Gomez. Some might disagree with me putting Cano 3rd, but I think he was the best hitter out of the players on this team. The fact that he commanded such an enormous contract proves that he is one of the best hitters in the game right now. Votto is batting cleanup, he has one of the highest OBPs in the league and he is very good at working counts, getting solid contact on balls, and driving in base runners, which is exactly what a cleanup hitter should be capable of doing. Jones is batting 5th because of his ability to home runs and get solid contact on the ball. Some might argue that I should have put Holliday before Jones, but at this point in their careers, I think Jones is more consistent. No specific reasons why I put Holliday in the #6 spot, I just had no higher spot to put him in. This spot might be some that will leave lots of people puzzled: Longoria in the #7 spot. My decision to bat him so low was this, the consensus of pitchers is that the lower they get in the order, the worse the hitters get. Well this lineup breaks that trend. Pitchers would not be able to relax when facing this lineup since a great hitter is waiting for them at the bottom of the lineup. Santana and Cuddyer are at the very bottom of the lineup for the exact same reasons as Longoria. I picked Darvish for 2nd team pitcher. Some of you might be surprised at that. The reason I chose him is because a) Scherzer got a ridiculous amount of run support, b) Harvey's season was cut short by injury so I decided not to choose him, c) I don't feel that Iwakuma or Cliff Lee had better seasons than Darvish, and d) I like Fernandez, probably more than most people do, but he's only had one season under his belt, I need to see 2-3 seasons of this before I can declare him a TOR pitcher, same with Wacha. Now, back to Darvish. Aside from my Rangers bias, Darvish has wicked breaking balls, surprisingly very little run support from an offensively potent team, and he led the league in strikeouts. He was also Top 5 in ERA, WHIP, and WAR (for pitchers).
