Brain is not working today. Didn't realize there was a survey link in the article. Cannot believe they would think it's a good idea to re-release cards. But, then again nothing Topps does makes any sense.

yeah i took the survey and saw those questions today. a 're-release' of insert sets would drive a lot of folks outta dodge. i know i would be in the camp of leaving... if i still cared about chasing every single card out there. i'm pretty sure this upcoming sig bonus will pretty much cause me to leave as well. its about the only thing left that i collect (other than the lightnings, which we havent seen in weeks so no one else cares about them anymore which is sad) - theyve already switched back and forth about whether or not its a 1-20, 11-20 or both deal. making it 1-20 after many weeks of saying 11-20 was not a good sign. only 41 could make the 1-10 run, not sure why they would want to alienate even more ppl. and the fact that yogi hasnt been sold out yet, i wouldnt put it past them to make yogi the award AGAIN. if anything, if they decide to revert back to allowing the 11-20 award, my bet is that they would re-release the yogi. It'd be nice if they'd change the "Coming Soon" to "Sold Out" and be done with it. Not entirely sure why the "Coming Soon" indicator is still there even after the card has been released. But I agree. If they re-release Yogi, I'm out of here. It was hard as hell to get the card in the secondary market in the first place. I wish they would definitively state that there will be an award for BOTH 1-20 and 11-20. Issue a statement or something!

My guess is that if re-releasing cards is even on their radar, they're running out of ideas for cards (I laughed out loud when I saw those HOF speech cards) and want to keep up the rate of release. I really don't know what's left, other than doing another release with gypsy and a&g like they did with FIN.

July League Leaders, of course!

I'm already disappointed that there is even an issue regarding the sig award for collecting 11-20. They stated many times that there would be one, and now all of a sudden there won't be? I don't think that they would issue Yogi again, but I hope they are listening to all the collectors who are calling them out on this. I way overpaid for a Stanton sig just so I could have the 11-20 set complete, if there was no award I would have passed.
I love the idea of recalling cards from banned or dead accounts, but how would you distribute them? Can you imagine the odds, and the windfall Topps could make? They are already issuing sigs and inserts with odds as high as 1:150 (I think Kershaw's sig was even higher, but I can't remember). I can see it now - nostalgia packs, the best place for those old sold out inserts you missed out on! 15000 coins each, 5 cards, 1:200 odds of a sold out insert. No thanks.

My favorite part of the survey was when they said "Do you want crappy reward cards or coins" I checked off coins in a heartbeat. That's why I tried to collect sets last year.

Upcoming Sig bonus? Can you explain further? There are (supposedly) two upcoming sig bonuses: 1) For collecting Sigs 1-20 2) For collecting Sigs 11-20 (1-10 was the Yogi Berra Sig) unfortunately, in a recent news article thread where TOPPSMIKE chimed in, he stated that there would be NO bonus for 11-20 and that it was only for 1-20. he didnt seem to want to elaborate any further. this is probably why there is a recent uptick in trout's value as well as ppl searching for jeter. i know i have also read them explain the reason for leaving something in the "coming soon" status. as soon as it is "sold out" it is done and dusted. coming soon allows them to reissue if necessary. of course, i dont see what the big deal is. i'm sure they could add more to the sold outs like they have in the past - or there's a glitch out there that allows them to increase and decrease counts.

i dont pay much attention to the wagers and bets forum but this would be an interesting one for us. i have a feeling there will be a bit of an uproar when the last sig is released on wed and they make an attempt to publish in the article that the bonus is only for 1-20 and not 11-20 (or both, like some articles early on alluded to).
i think if theres enough of an uproar in the thread/feed for that article, that they will step back and agree to a 11-20 release and make it yogi... again.

Nah. If they really wanted to create an uproar, make the last sig limited to 100 with 1:200 odds. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I don't like the idea of re-releasing cards from so-called "dead" accounts, either. I view the app as my place to house my digital card collection. If I decide to take a year off (or 5) I've suddenly lost my rights to MY cards that I paid good money for? Can we do that with peoples' closets, too? If you don't actively collect then we're coming to take your old cards away.
Topps is acting like this is some sort of cash grab instead of focusing on building a platform that will become the new model for modern collecting. They change rules on the fly, don't enforce rules, and seem to bend over backward for the non-paying contingent. If they want a platform where nothing has value and everyone can have whatever they want whenever they want, fine. But make that a "free only" version and separate it from the people that actually want to collect and have money to spend on it.

i dont like the pulling of cards from "dead" accounts either. i dont think theres any way that would happen anyways. too many legal issues to weed thru.
and yes, this is an amazing platform that they have built. however, in the grand scheme of things, i dont think topps (or any other companies) have placed much overall value in it. i think its still a very small (<5%) portion of their overall business which obviously includes the physical cards but also merchandise etc. once they get more infrastructure in place i think they could really do something with it.

I agree on the old accounts but people who are banned for life for cheating. Is free game. And put there cards back into the game. Better than releasing sold out cards just to cater to new people wants.
