Anyone having luck pulling super veteran cards? I opened between 30-40 packs and didn't pull a single one. Seems like the odds on these must be steep. Either that or I just have crappy luck today.

I've only been in this game about a month, but I learned the hard way that inserts seem to appear more frequently several days after the announcement. Take the Fister FC card for example. People were begging for it to finish their sets, now there are 1500+ of them and the award still hasn't been given out yet.

I've actually had the opposite experience in the past. Have had great luck pulling inserts shortly after they announce them. Had that experience with the original A&G set and the Leathers set where I pulled 4-5 (incl super rare) out of a sim # packs as I opened of sulu per vet. Problem with waiting is that you run the risk that they do a black or bonus pack and the trade value plummets. Fine if you're looking to complete the set but I rarely chase a whole set. I'm still sitting on a bunch of swapped and rookie cups cause they flooded the market and now no one wants them. Maybe that's the new norm now. Make inserts incredible tough to pull. Then when everyone's blown their coins, release high priced bonus packs.

The last few weeks have had the same pattern - there is an insert set with no limits on print run per card, all cards released at once, and at the end of the week the cards are included in an insert promo pack of some sort that basically kills their value. The reason the A&G set is different is that it was never part of any promo pack, and as far as I can remember, the A&G packs never even went on sale. I love that set, it is my favorite set I put together all year. The three super rares in that set have print runs around 60. I don't think you will see that again, I'm sure Topps makes a lot more money with the insert promo packs.

I think with the new rule where they only give out the award one time we will see the print runs a lot higher now, so people still have a chance to get the award

Rather see lower print runs and low count reward cards like the Robinson Sig (coming today!).

Guess I'm going to have to adjust my strategy. Shame cause I was really able to max the few dollars I'm willing to spend on the old model. With the new model if you don't manage to score an insert right when they come out their trade value is next to nothing. Guess my thoughts of trading for the older low count EC cards to complete the set is squashed now.
