So, they announced the Werth sig as the final sig of the year, with a count of 150. Odds 1:150, but a guaranteed sig pack for 1,000,000 coins would guarantee you one.
Except, apparently, according to comments on the article, they accidentally seeded the 10,000 coin packs with the sig guaranteed, and put odds on the 1,000,000 coin pack. Sig sold out in a few minutes.
Of course, that was after I had already dumped 70,000 coins on the regular sig packs (which apparently hadn't even been seeded with the sig at all yet at that point.
Un-be-freaking-lievable.

See IKED's comment that immediately precedes TOPPSMIKE in that picture. LOL. He was responding to my comment (before the card sold out) that a million coins was ridiculous. Which it is, regardless of the posted odds. Of course, it is actually less ridiculous than charging 500,000 coins for a guaranteed Wainwright, which was a 700 count sig. So if they had actually done what they planned to do, it would have been a step forward. They lost a boatload of money on this screwup today. Would have sold a lot of coins to people desperate to grab Werth. 75,000,000 almost guaranteed from people who already have the first 29. Instead, this thing sold out and they probably will have to refund more coins on guaranteed sig packs than they earned from spitting them out of 10k packs. If someone doesn't get fired over this mistake, their bosses are extremely gracious. |
