When I read the fan feeds, I am usually looking to see what people want. If there is something that people want, that means they're willing to pay for it, right? I always thought that was an ok thing to do: when I find a Yankees fan, if I trade them a Yankees card, they are happier once they have it. That's why they value it more than I do, and it's why they pay me more than it's worth to me. That's what trading is all about, right? I get happier and they get happier.
So yesterday, a guy comes on saying that he's looking for Alex Cobb cards. I rarely have doubles of anything, but for some reason I have 4 copies of Cobb's red card. I offer him one, but I want something at least as good back. I ask for a Kluber silver. Yes, that's better, but hey: I'm trying to improve my deck. So the guy declines (which of course is perfectly fine) and sends me a one word message: "Blocked."
Really? Am I really an a-hole for trying to take a (relatively small) step up at the same time I send somebody something they are asking for? Again, anyone at any time has the right to decline a trade. No problem there. But is that really a blocking foul? Just curious if you all think it's that egregious.

Seems like a stretch to block someone for such a trade request. It's not like you were offering a common base for a good gold. If that's someone's standard for blocking others, you're better off not dealing with them.

I would block if I get multiple offers from same person with lowball offers. You should have offered 2 to 3 reds for a kluber silver kluber one of the top pt scorers and Cobb is just if the dl with one good and one bad start.

Probably true. The person just had BHK as their login picture, so I thought I'd see if y'all felt like he does. Thanks for responding.

Like oldgrady said your better off blocked

I had a similar deal today. Guy was asking for 3 gold CarGos and any other Rockies cards, including Rockies inserts that he already has. So I offered 2 gold CarGo and a CarGo opening day for his Castellanos EC. Rejected, along with a nasty note about "I do fair trades, not garbage trades." OK, sir. Whatever.

I only block someone if its clear they're trying to scam me. Like asking for a sig and a bunch of golds for one or two golds in return.
One of my biggest pet peeves, though, is when I make an offer and I write a note seeing if there's anyway we can make a trade happen for a certain card and I get an immediate decline and no message back.

Easy solution to this not happening. Don't send bad offers.

Unfortunately, a lot of people value their cards more highly even though objectively the value is quite a bit lower. I go through the same thing. I will typically only block someone if they keep pestering me with lowball offers and don't appear to take the hint after the third declined trade. But I don't see the fault in coming in and asking for higher value for a card the other party really wants. In some instances, maybe they'll pay the premium. Doesn't hurt to ask.

I agree with the others. However just because someone posts they are looking for a particular card especially base that has been out for a while doesn't mean they are willing to overpay. That's part of what's wrong with the newsfeed now most people on there have no clue what a fair trade is. It almost seems like the only time I can make train through the newsfeed if I'm overpay.

I likely won't block anybody with a trade with only base. It's only the stupid trades like base for sig that ill block. I think I'm too forgiving.

Easy solution to this not happening. Don't send bad offers. thats easier said than done. I could offer a Harper 2013 sig for a 2014 gold cueto and if the person doesn't value 2013 cards and is attached to cueto they would say its a bad trade

I was new on Bunt and I made, what was apparently a bad offer, and the dude says, "WTF ? You're blocked". I was upset then, but you realize that people value trades so differently. When there are so many different people on here with varying levels of engagement and knowledge, you get it all. Welcome to the Club !!
