Now I know what you're all thinking... "Jakemn is posting about the padres? He's a twins fan! He's never once mentioned the padres!" Right I could care less about them. BUT, let's all think about them for a second...
Their name is the padres.
The padres! Sure it sounds kind of cool in English but for real these guys are named the fathers. Is that even a mascot? Just a family figure? No offense to all ten of the padres fans that exist! I've always known what it meant but never thought about the fact that their is a team called the dads.
Thoughts?

Yeah, I see what your saying. The Padres just seem like a strange team all around. One thing that I'd like to see is a change in the color scheme. I think they should ditch the shades of brown and stick with the navy, adding a brighter color alongside.

OK, here comes your die hard Padres fan into the conversation. Yeah, we are the San Diego Dads! Fathers! Not really, though! You're not looking out at a field full of 9 guys where your dad's pitching to your best friends dad behind the plate & Uncle Stewie's out in left..
What I'm about to say, may be even worse. A Padre= Spanish Preacher/Monk So, now look at your 9 fielders... 9 Monks. bald heads, with a little hair left around the edges, tied off robes, maybe, some wooden shoes?
If you're not from California, you may not know the story of all the missions Father Junipero Serra founded beginning in Mexico and going all the way up the west coast of CA. Ironically, just outside the gate to old San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium and down maybe a half mile was Mission San Diego de al cala. Even though, there were a few entrances into the stadium, it was right there and that Stadium was where The Chargers, padres, outdoor San Diego Sockers played, & every other big event like motocross etc. But, I digress...
The Padres got their name because, of Father Serra and all of his goodwill and Missions made throughout CA. Plus, they know now, that being that close to Mexico, that's additional revenue with San Diego being a border city.
It sure doesn't put the fear of God into your opponents hearing that the Fathers are coming to town! Lol
