It's a good marketing tool to attract new people. Unfortunately I think it may have the same slightly negative effect that the "friendly fan" award has had. I firmly believe that ~60% of all the new people on trade talk asking for help are Bunt users creating new accounts to trick people into sending them donations in hopes of getting the friendly fan award. The award itself is excellent in theory. It gets people to go out of their way to help new users, so those users get hooked and stay on Bunt(doesn't hurt that it adds more potential coin buyers too).
I actually can't stand seeing people who say they are new and need donations but have over 100 trade ratings. Even worse are those who flat out tell you they will nominate you for friendly fan for donating inserts to them. If there is a system, people will find a way to game it.
The majority of new people signing up for the $10 or 20k coins bonus will be unknowing spouses and children of avid Bunt players.

Topps treats it like the Nobel peace prize. They should be giving out 100 a day to stimulate a friendly environment and reinvigorate a stale coin economy . |

They are only giving new users the 2500 like they used to. A friend of mine joined up and he was upset casue I told him he woudl get the 20k.. Oh wel, A new member to the fold..
