Back in my day (not the heyday of physical cards but still they were bigger in the early 2000s than now) my friends and I would be giddy at the site of an opened pack. We would be excited to obtain new cards but we were just as excited to had new assets to trade our friends. We would trade regular cards, just player based on how good they were. Sure there were 8 cards or whatever for a pack (which most of us [aside from spoiled kids] could only afford one pack per week of) but still that was a lot of. Sometimes one of us pulled bowman mo Vaughn, chrome Julio lugo, etc. but that didn't make them unattainable via base card trading. It was all about trading players based on their skill or popularity. Jeter, ARod, Bonds, Clemens all were ridiculously high valued. Because they were good, not because there were only 250 of them. Sorry for the incoherent rant but I'm sick of all these inserts making normal trading impossible. Nowadays it's nearly impossible for us guys that grew up trading real cards to relive or continue those trading experiences through bunt if you ask me.
Win Twins!

I do think that the different base boosts has made trading bases easier but topps has not provided a good enough incentive so far this year to persuade players to keep hitters instead of loading up on starting pitching!

Remember the gum that came in packs with cards? (80s topps) ? Yes! I have unopened 90s packs right now with gum in them. My grampa gave me packs from card packs' early days and told me to try the gum, I swear he gave me and my brother those packs just to see the looks on our faces when we realized we were basically eating chalk! Win Twins!

That was good gum . . . Someone should make a candle scent 'TOPPS Gum'. My wife could light one up while I play bunt . . .

I remember that when I collected cards, it was quite enjoyable and exciting to open new packs. BUNT now feels like money-obsessed "free" game that forces you to spend $$$ in order to even have a *chance* at achieving something on there.
