I'm interested in getting eneryone's opinion on this. With 3 of 5 starters on the DL (1 for the year, 1 for at least 6 weeks) The Yankees need at least another starter.
Any thoughts on who they should get??
I personally think either Price (though I think the Rays may charge way too much) or Samardijza (probably butchered that name).

I would aim towards one of the backend Mariners starts once Paxton and Walker come off the DL. Maybe Roenis Elias or Chris Young. They may be cheaper than the other two options.

Bring Blanton out of retirement!

Bring Blanton out of retirement! That is my fear is that Cashman is going to go after an older, proven pitcher who would be cheaper rather than go after someone who could be a long-term fix. Price could be signed and *should* be good for the next 6-7 years. Samar... same situation, but I would say 4-5 years. I would be fine with signing a team's 3rd or 4th starter as long as they are 1) younger than 33ish and 2) can get us 12-14 wins with a sub 4 ERA. I'm not demanding, right? lol

The Yankees have no farm. There is no way they could get Price or Samardzija. Maybe they could get a Jeff Locke type of guy but no big namer.

Watching MLB network the analysts (dont remember which ones) brought up that the Yankee's farm system has improved. The main problem is that the Rays and Cubs are going to want pitching, which if the Yanks had that they wouldnt need to trade for a pitcher lol. And remember Price has 1 year left at pretty high (for the Rays) amount (I wanna say something like 12ish) and Jeff is a free agent next year. The Rays/Cubs would be smart to get whatever they can while they can, rather than hold on to them to see them go for only a compensatory pick.

Maybe they can trade Soriano back to the Cubs...I mean he's being paid 14 mil this year by them anyway...
Other than that I cant see them trading for an ace like Price or Samardzija...If anything they'll throw money at them during free agency...

Stop talking money. The Yankees have plenty of it. They should probably go after Samarja. A good 2nd or 3rd man in the rotation. He's not quite the ace Price is.

But money is not helpful mid-season; only during free agency. If you want to trade for someone like Price or Samardzija mid-season you're going to need quite a few prospects, which the Yankees either don't have in the farm or are hurt and no one wants right now. It's always been a major problem with the Yankees organization.

I still think they get Price before year-end. Wether they include another team for prospects or just money, they'll get him. Cubs starter (I'm an accounting major, nt spelling) is a maybe. He will be the big trade deadline guy. I see one of the LAs or another contender overpaying for a few months.

The yanks really have many holes. Not sure one or two will give the. What they need to go deep into playoffs

The yanks really have many holes. Not sure one or two will give the. What they need to go deep into playoffs Remember that Sabathia and Pineda are only temporary. If Sabathia is able to come back from the knee and pitch at least somewhat like he used to he would be a good second. Pineda hopefully will return and pitch well enough to be fourth. So you have Tanaka Sabathia Kuroda Pineda ******* imagine Price or Jeff here? You may even see the Yanks go 4 and move Pineda to the pen. I for one would not want to be on a team that had to face Tanaka/Price twice each in the playoffs....

Sorry to burst a fellow Yankee fans bubble but there is no way the Rays will trade Price to a division rival.
