Sorry to burst a fellow Yankee fans bubble but there is no way the Rays will trade Price to a division rival. If the Rays are smart they will. The Rays have a history of losing good talent to rivals through off-season signings (Crawford, Soriano). Instead of letting Price go for nothing (keeping him till he opts out and leaves) they may as well get what they can now. True they could trade him to another contending team, but I live in the area and go to several Rays games a year. The fanbase here loves Price and will not be too keen on the Rays not listening to Price's wishes. So if Price wants to go to a NY/Boston/Orioles team they are more likely to work out a trade that benefits him as well so that they dont earn the ire of their fans.

Price's wishes? Ire the fans? Management doesn't care about either one..what they care about is the product on the field and $$$. There is ZERO chance they trade him to NY/Boston/Baltimore/Toronto...I understand they could let him walk and sign with those teams...but in all honesty there are about 4-5 other teams who are betters suited to make a legit offer for him...They will scoop up on a bunch of young prospects in return...IF they even decide to trade him.

Sorry to burst a fellow Yankee fans bubble but there is no way the Rays will trade Price to a division rival. Also they have nowhere near the farm system it would take to get Price. It's questionable if they even have the farm system to get Samardzija. They have some decent pieces (Gary Sanchez, Mason Williams, Banuelos, etc.) but nothing that would be close to what the Rays are looking for for Price.

I find it interesting that the thoughts of a Yankee supporter is 'well we could use another world class starter, who should we trade for?' And as a twins fan (and a lot of other teams) when in a similar rotation situation we say 'well I guess we don't have any starters this year...' Haha
Win Twins!

If it makes you feel any better I live in Rays country (if you can call it that) and my wife is a Rays fan. They have so much pitching that they have had former starters in the pen. They traded Shields and Davis for Myers and it didnt even affect their season lol. What the Rays dont have? An owner willing to invest in his team. Every time a star is found in Tampa, they exit for the money since Sternberg is unwilling to pay (except Longoria). They have lost, either through FA or trade (knowing they would lose them): Shields, Upton, Soriano, Rodney, Crawford, Garza. Then there are the people likely to leave when their deals end, like Jennings, Myers, Moore, Loney. It seems like every season the Rays use temp players, older players and newbies, yet somehow find a way to stay relavent. Imagine what could happen if they had an ownership team that gave them money to play with? Wonder if that's the same with all smaller market teams. I hear alot about the Rays because of where I live, but I guess the Twins could be in the same boat, right? Good luck catching Detroit though lol

Yea the local media says the Rays are looking for pitching in return. I find this ironic because if a team who needed Price had pitching, they wouldn't need him as bad, no?

If the Brewers season takes a dump, I wouldn't be surprised if they try to make a go at Lohse.

I think it has a lot to do with Price's contract running out soon. It's all about money of course, which is unfortunate for small market teams like the rays.

If the Brewers season takes a dump, I wouldn't be surprised if they try to make a go at Lohse. Lohse is again the type of player I would prefer to see the Yanks avoid. At 35 he has what, 2-3 more good years at most? I really want to see the Yankees start getting younger. We made a good start with Tanaka, McCann and Ellsbury, and hopefully Solarte works out. But we need to stop signing these mid 30s to long-term contracts.

McCannn and Ellsbury are both 30...they're not getting any younger...the teams average age is 30.2...the 3rd highest in the league...
