I think the biggest surprise is the New York Mets. I never thought I would ever see a New York team have a salary lower than my Milwaukee Brewers.

Take a look at the top 4 teams in the AL. With the exception of Boston. The Blue Jays, Angels and Yankees all had subpar seasons despite having 3 out of the 4 top team salaries in the AL.
