Hey I was wondering what everyone else thought of all these specialized packs they are offering with the newest sets of inserts. Honestly, I kinda like the idea, but I think it should be a pack with the "best odds" at pulling the insert for a higher price than the normal pack, with opportunity still left to pull it from the regular packs as well.
I think this would possibly draw me into spending on these packs more often, if I'm able to pull certain inserts at better odds and possibly fewer cards per pack or a slightly (emphasis needed on slightly...) higher price than the regular packs.
What do you guys think?

I agree. Offer a chance at ALL inserts in the 7th Inning Stretch Pack.
I also think it would be a great idea to offer a POWER PACK in the 7th Inning Stretch Pack. Where maybe you have a 1 in 500 chance of opening a pack containing 7 insert cards. People would chase this pack similar to chasing SIGs.

That's an excellent idea, esp regarding the Power Pack.

I think these specialized packs will take their toll on sales. It's more fun, when your not chasing anything specific to buy a pack and hope for one of many possible inserts. These specialized packs take that away.

These specialized packs take that away. I agree we need only one pack in the store. Just like real life. You buy a pack of Topps and get multiple inserts available in it. If you're chasing say Bowman, and only open that pack and keep drawing blanks, with maybe the occasional Super Rare, you have no trade bait for another Bowman. Now if you were to crack a EC, FC something like that, you can trade for the Bowman you really want. Plus more inserts in one pack, means more get opened. More insertes pulled means happier Bunters. And happier Bunters equals a better world.

Another side effect of having all these specialty packs is that fewer of the "standard" inserts are being pulled, driving up the value of cards like POTW and Editor's Choice because fewer people are spending their coins on the regular + Inserts packs. I think there are still less than 30 Wheeler ECs in the game, and it has been out for several days.
Makes those season-long chases more and more difficult, especially when there are several cards in the set that sell out at super low card counts.

The 10th, 20th, and 30th of all season long series will be extremely hard to get. No one will trade except for crazy amounts (see Satin) and we will be forced to buy coins to complete them. At least that's what Topps is think. all my opinions of course.

ECs always appear to ramp up later in the week. Carlos Martinez EC also started really slowly and then picked up to over 300 copies by Sunday. I think that is what you will see for Wheeler.

A really good sig on Wednesday could boost Wheeler count some. That will get people opening the 7th inning stretch. TBT on Thursday and GM on Friday are specialty packs so no additional Wheelers there. If there wasn't a sig coming Wednesday, wheeler would probably end at 150 pulled. Averaging 11 a day but closer we get to award deadline will have some opening 7th inning to chase Wheeler to keep or sell high.
