Seems like people are thinking this will solve the problem. Some interesting stats to ponder
Yanks vs al teams. Runs allowed 354. Run scored. 303
This stat reflects that yanks need to get there offense up to par as we'll as pitching
What's your thoughts.

Tanaka alone won't put them on top of the AL, but he won't hurt their chances. Toronto is a great example of a team that looks great on paper drowning in the AL East. It's hands down the most talent loaded division in baseball, where literally any one of those 5 teams are capable of leading the American League standings and if not for the constant inter divisional beating they're forced to put on each other by facing off so often, each of them could be nearly assured to be playoff bound in any other division. It'll be interesting to see who comes out on top, but the Yankees are putting together a pretty convincing roster this year.

I agree it's always interesting to watch players from other countries who dominate there leagues come to mlb to compete. Seeing more International ball players coming to baseball has been one of the bright spots in baseball over the past decade.
I know there were players before then but in the last decade or so it's really taken off

I don't think he will be a dominate as say Yu was last year. I think there is a lot of hype about him but not sure on how he will fair against MLB hitters.

I don't think he will be a dominate as say Yu was last year. I think there is a lot of hype about him but not sure on how he will fair against MLB hitters. I don't think Yu would be as good competing mainly in the AL East either, so it's really hard to compare even after we get a full season in the bag... the AL East is a very powerful division while the west is the softest division in the league, not to say he's not legitimately good but when you play the bulk of your season against teams like Houston, LA Angels or Seattle... While Tanaka will play 46% of his season against Boston, Tampa, Baltimore and Toronto... He's got a tough road to proving himself. If what they say is true about this guy, that he's a better pitcher than Yu was coming over, then he's got a good shot. I'm glad the Yankees picked him up though, a good rivalry needs a worthy opponent and I can't wait to see Boston and Tampa pound them! Aha.

One pitcher is not enough to put the aging team into contention.
