There's a new pack "Topps Mayor" which is the only place to get the new Mayor cards. There are 5 cards in the set, and reward card is a George Brett for Mayor. First one is Robin Yount, limited at 650. What are your guys opinions on this set, particularly the card design?

I can't pull one - where is the set list ?? I don't see an announcement. I have pulled like 20 packs and pulled amazing golds, but no Mayor card. But I did tweet out our Mayor on it haha

Saw it - crazy odds 1:70, but this set will go wild with former HoF players. I recall Topps issued this as a special series and it included Gary Carter which may force my hand to spend more $$$. They have my number

I think these may quite possibly be the ugliest cards I've seen yet...
Except for that peavy 100k and Stanton's card from last year, but those were just ugly poses, not ugly cards...

Love the old school theme, love the player selection (especially Yount!) - but really really hate those odds. I might be more interested if Turkey Red and Gypsy Queen packs didn't tear me a new one.

at 1:70 to get a yount, this cant be a good deal for us. 6000 per pack x 70 = 420,000 coins potentially. that's close to $110 in current coin value in the store. tell me we're not going to find these on ebay in 1-2 weeks at $1-5 per card? the only way to make out on these is if you get a yount early and then either trade up for it or post it on ebay right away.
i would steer clear of buying packs. if everyone does, its likely that topps will drop the price like they had to for the trout pack. i think those were at 12k or 15k per pack at the start and they still cant give them away for 3k per pack now. there's still 50 of them out there til its sold out.

No one seems to be buying these = the pack will go down real soon. Look at the Trout Fire Boost.

Agreed - I have ripped a lot and no insert. I fully expect it to go down too

I'm with Pez--after getting rocked by both Turkey Red (failed) and Gypsy Queen (failing)--I'm passing.

I really want this set, just for the George Brett reward. I unfortunately can't afford to spend money on the packs at this point.
Do you have to have all 5 in your possession in order to get the Brett card? I posted in the borrowing forum about potentially borrowing the set to get the Brett card, but I'm not sure how the rewards are actually given out. Can anyone fill me in on how that works?

From what I know, you need all 5 cards when the award comes out. Then it is open for a period of time to get award. After you get award, if you trade cards, you still keep it. That's how I think it works
