I figured I would start Friday off with a short story about dealing with stalkers and bad trade offers.
For the past couple of weeks, I have been receiving these horrendous offers from another player (name has to do with sailing), typically involving a very high-end insert and offering, in return, a single gold base card. In the beginning, I just declined the trades, gave the guy one star, and moved on. Soon after, he started sending 2-3 trades a day, all terrible, which I would also decline. Eventually, I moved him into my Ignored Traders list and told him to stop sending me trade offers.
In some ways, I am a masochist. I will go into my Ignored Traders list to see what insanely idiotic trades these people will come up with and realize that we, as a society, are doomed. Anyway, there is the sailing guy again, offering a shiny Cano gold base card for ... a Longoria Tribute. Now, if you're familiar with the Tribute series, you know that Longoria is one of three super rare Tribute cards. This means that there are about 100 so far out there. I also repeatedly post on the Fan Feed that I do not trade singles and to not offer base cards for any insert (unless I know you and we've reached an understanding - but that wouldn't fit in the fan feed).
I decided to have a little fun with my sailing buddy and countered this offer with the following: his shiny Cano gold base card for a Mike Trout common base card. I figured, maybe this will get the message across to this guy not to send me crap offers. He declines the trade and replies with: "disrespectful counter." Of course it was. I replied to him with the following: "Dude, respect is earned. Don't make me disrespectful offers in the first place otherwise you will see Brett Gardner base cards next."
Haven't heard from him since.
Moral of the story: Don't make $&*% offers.
