When it comes to BUNT, I'm much more of a trading kind of guy, and I'm sure I've traded with alot of people on here, however, I finally started putting myself out there and began playing for points.
However... the is my third serious weeks of points, and I can't seem to get passed the midrange threshold, I was happy in my first week when I placed around 25 on the Mariners board, and 700 overall, but I just can't overcome that area of the leaderboards.
So, can anyone give me some advice on how I can push my points to a higher level? I'd really like to get top 500 this week, thanks!

What I look for in picking pitchers are the points they have had over the last 5 or so games. If I have a white Felix and a gold Juan Nicasio, I will opt to go with Felix because that will be a safer bet for positive points. I also try to select my 9 pitchers for the early games first thing in the morning so that all of my plays reload in case I need to quick switch them out. If not, that will get me plenty of reloads for the late games and also if I want to put a reliever or two in as well. I finished in 179 and 105 in the last two weeks with this method.
Of course it always helps if you have gold for the top pitchers, and several of the good ones.

I guess that didn't work out yesterday I think my problem might come from your last bit of advice, I don't really have a ton of gold SP's because people are so uptight about them, so I've been working on that but people are so stingy! Thanks for the advice! I appreciate it.

Not a problem. Yes, yesterday was rough. Keep in mind that sometimes you have to stick with a pitcher even though they start out rough. Samardzija started out with negative points, but he did finish with over 200 on Gold. Sometimes it pays to stick with the good ones.
If you don't have a lot of Gold, try getting as many silver then as you can. That is what started it for me. I would try to trade Gold hitters for Silver pitchers if nothing else, as long as it was one of the good pitchers. They are not too much less than Gold in terms of points.

I just started playing for points this week and so far so good but I have had to change my collecting style and trading for gold SP is not that easy so I have been going for silvers which it seems people are much more willing to part with

really there is not THAT much of a point difference between white up to silver....i finish in the top 150-300 each week just swapping out pitchers (a few hitters for early day games and late night games) and a few relievers...i dont have that many gold either but i try to snag a point anyway that I can. Get 9 of each card first then focus on upgrading them to higher rarity In order of how I play my cards 1. Starting Pitchers (currently pitching...if its not his half inning to pitch put someone in that can score a point) 2. Relievers (if any playing) 3. 1st Basemen (they get points for Put Outs and most get 6-14 a game) 4. Catchers (same theory as above they get points for every strikeout) 5. Infield Studs 6. Outfield Studs 7. Any scrub that happens to be playing DEFENSE! NOTE: Also if you have DirecTV channel 720 is the auto aim, auto fire, auto hit button for any BUNT player they show 8 games at once....LIVE (its on small screens so you have to sit close to the TV or have a really big TV but who doesnt like sitting a foot away from the TV watching baseball and playing Topps BUNT?!?!!?)

This thread is nearly a month old now, but I think it's an important one for newer players wanting to get in on the game. So I'll chime in to refresh it My game improved greatly after reading this thread about two weeks ago. At the end of my third full week on Bunt, I managed to earn the Price special for breaking the top 1000. The more serious players here blow my numbers away, but there are plenty of casual players who would love to break into the top 1000 each week. The advice in this thread can help. (I have not spent money on the app yet, but the 27000 coin Trout bonus was a big boost for a newbie like me.) Note that the scoring numbers have changed since this thread started. I don't think the numbers spoil much of the advice here, but keep it in mind. The new system is fresh enough that most of us are still figuring out what impact it will have. Home runs seem to crush pitchers more so now than before, and that may require us to rethink things some. Everyone should scroll up and re-read what pezcrew wrote in his first reply here. I believe his advice about reloads and pitcher evaluation is important no matter how many cards you have. Even the most basic collection can benefit from those ideas. Note how most the replies here refer to rarities. There are two important points to make about rarities. Pescrew referred to using a white rarity of a quality pitcher rather than a gold rarity of a weaker pitcher. Good advice! Rarity alone should not determine your picks. Hawk8 and Beck0420 write about how there is not a lot of difference in scoring between rarities. You don't have to sell the farm to chase an important gold pitcher, especially if you already have a silver copy of that pitcher. I've acquired several gold pitchers now (thanks to the 27000 coin Trout bonus), but scored my early successes by following the rarity advice here in this thread. I called it my Moneyball strategy, but it wasn't my idea at all. I traded away cards such as that plentiful gold Trout for multiple red and green "money" pitchers. It worked! I have only been reiterating what others wrote before me in this thread. Some thoughts I would like to add have to do with the scoring change. With it looking like homeruns devastate pitchers, we need to put more thought into who allows more homeruns. Two pitchers with similar ERAs and similar K stats might have very different HR stats. As a Toronto fan, I see Dickey throw plenty of low hit games, but too many of those hits are home runs. I think the new scoring system, especially homeruns, might make it more important to diversify your line up. I think that makes the game more enjoyable, and that would be something the makers of Bunt would want to do. How fun is sticking 9 gold Felix in your line up and not checking in? (I dunno really, cuz I only have one gold Felix.) Last night there were a handful of medium level (my evaluation) pitchers to pick from. I chose a couple of each. Afterwards it looks like I benefitted from not putting all my eggs in one basket. When one of my pitchers gave up HRs, my other pitchers were still putting up Ks. Food for thought. rpitcher (defensive scrub <---LOL Beck)

Yeah, try and swap in players who are currently in the game. This proves to be a bit more difficult on Android than on Apple but you have to keep tabs of the games. Sadly for me, I will never finish top 100 because I lose all Saturdays and Friday Night games.
