I can't stand it when people make up fake offers to try to get more out of you in a trade. Earlier today, I saw someone offering the Wacha/Miller dual sig for trade and asking for, among other things, Abreu sig + in return. I made an offer of Abreu plus Bumgarner TR, Brooks Robinson TBT, and Gausman gold. At first he said it was his best offer, then a half hour later he claimed to have gotten an offer that included Kershaw and Abreu sigs. I told him to take that other offer and run. Ten minutes later, he is offering me Wacha/Miller (which I already have) in exchange for Kershaw and Abreu sigs, with a comment that he wanted to help me out since I made a good offer first to give me the chance to take this deal. I declined and commented telling him that if someone else is willing to give this to him, he should take it, since it was far more than I was willing to pay. He follows up with another offer, including a few more inserts. So he obviously made up the other offer, and I called his bluff. Also earned him a spot on my ignored traders list.

I see this in trade talk a lot. Someone holds an auction and their best offer is a severe overpay. Sometimes I think these people are just confusing "best offer" with "auto". Others are just lying.

I see this in trade talk a lot. Someone holds an auction and their best offer is a severe overpay. Sometimes I think these people are just confusing "best offer" with "auto". Others are just lying. I think it's a simple "mind game" they're hoping will result in the same or a better offer for their card. Problem is, anyone saying "AUCTION" in trade talk is instantly thought of by most 2013 people as a bullshitter who's going to piss you around as you make an offer and they write back saying "You're in the lead or you're second" and then still have the damn card 2 days later. Only time you should see someone say what their best offer is, is in an offer for a card in which your supposedly against someone else and the offers are close. Even then though it could be a lie....
