Sometimes a change of scenery is all you need. Headly hit 31 bombs in 2012, so putting him on a team that's in the race for a playoff spot could give him the boost he needs. He's still got a chance to finish with 20 HR's this year. I think Yankees got a great deal, Rafeal De Paula is a single A starting pitcher who could be a 2-3 guy one day. Plus the yanks got $1 mil.

Headley will become free agent at end of season, which is fine for the Yanks since A-Roid is coming back

Very good point,I think the Yankees will make a deal with Headley and cut ends loose with Rodriguez, clearly Headley has been better

Padres will win this trade if Rafael De Paula can work out his control issues
Short term win for the Yanks tho Headley should do well in NY for the rest of the year but I bet he moves on after end of year

I really liked Solarte--career minor leaguer who finally made the bigs. He did great at the beginning of the season when it seemed no one else could hit. When he started slumping he fell out of the lineup.
It's an incremental improvement for the Yankees. It partially addresses a significant issue--their inability to hit in key situations--but it is far from a solution to their woes.

Well Headly can't be much worse than he's been so far this season. I liked solarte and don't like the quest for instant titles rather than building in NY.
The Yankees aren't going to win the WS so what's the point in giving up a prospect for a would be FA?

has either arod or headley ever played at 1b? one of them could backup tex since hes getting up there in age.
