you guys are forgotting something Arod could be moved back to SS with Jeter retiring. I don't think Arod could cope with ss now. His hips are awful and he's not played there for years and been out this year. He'll be very rusty even at third next year.

They'll have to because we have nothing in way of prospects at ss.
Had we got lucky and got mike trout in the draft a few years back, I bet cashman would have traded him to get some 34 year old declining veteran for a 2-3 month stint.

If Headley suddenly turns back into his 30HR 100RBI version (a la Soriano last year), this becomes a clear Yankee win, otherwise I think its a fairly neutral trade, maybe a long-term Padre win if DePaula becomes a viable Major Leaguer.

To be honest here. The Yankees have up a prospect and a OK player for a good hole-filler for 2 months. Unfortunately for them, he won't be back (A-Roid) and they aren't going to make the playoffs anytime soon. Even Yankee fans are saying that. He also looks like a weirdo since he had to shave his scruff (McCann too). Bottom line is easily a Padre win.

Here's my extreme Red Sox bias talking... Another year and another prospect the Yanks trade away for an "immediate solution" that's realistically two years too late.
Headley and Solarte have basically identical numbers this year. So why trade a young up and comer for a guy who hit 30 home runs once in his career?

you guys are forgotting something Arod could be moved back to SS with Jeter retiring. You have to have range for a SS, which Alex doesn't have. Brendan Ryan can be used as some good trade bait for a better SS.
