I like the major league talent for major league talent deal. So many deals for prospects this time of year. That A's rotation is ridiculous now.

I think the A's get the better deal for the only reason that they look to be in great shape to make a WS push. I like "win now" mode because you don't always have the option to turn it on.

The sox give up Lester for and gomes for 2 moths, and get Cespedes for 3 (he can option out and become a free agent after 15. That's not a bad deal.

I don't disagree, it's always worth it if you win the Series. If they can bring Lester back next year, it will completely change their dynamic in the East with Cespedes in the OF.

I think Boston made out like a bandit here. I am not looking at the A's in this whatesoever.
You get a MAJOR upgrade from Gomes to Cespedes. And lose what with Lester? Absolutely nothing! You had to resign him this offseason anyways. They are in the same boat with a better lineup and defense for him now.
The Yankees are my second favorite team so boston ranks close to the Cards as my most hated. This sucks for other AL East teams.
Rumor is Lester has already said he's coming back to Beantown no matter what next year.

Now for the A's perspective. It's win or sink this year. I think this deal sets them back for the future. I don't know if they can resign Smardja (Kentucky redneck spelling there) or not, but Lester is a two month rental. You gave away arguably the face of your franchise for a ring. They better get it.
I think the lose to the Dodgers still though. The Dodgers still have a better rotation. But it will be an awesome World Series if it happens.
