I'm sure by now, most of you are aware of or have participated in the ALS "Ice Bucket Challenge". I want to get BHK's thoughts on this movement to raise awareness about ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. If you don't know what ALS is, it stands for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and it is a disease of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement. Over time, your body starts to shut down and you are unable to move, walk, or talk because your muscles are essentially gone. It is a terrible disease that has no cure. So, BHK Nation, what are your thoughts on this movement? Is it just a silly social media trend, or is this actually helping raise awareness about ALS?

I think it's helping. I heard one radio show where the DJ and staff were discussing ALS and were surprised at the severity of the disease. They were very unaware as to how bad it actually is. I think the challenge has helped those who really don't know much about what Lou Gehrig suffered more aware because they don't personalize it with someone famous from generations ago.

I think it could be helping. Now I think people just think of it as a social media trend. I never realized it was for that.
