Hey all - I've been playing Bunt now since early July, for the most part I've traded my way all the way up to where I am now. Placing in the top 1000 for PTS, which I'm pretty pleased about, only to discover that these BoB cards are considered generally worthless when it comes to trading.
So now I come to a point where I'm ready to maybe invest a little $$ every month, nothing crazy, but enough to buy some packs and actually have some good inserts to trade with. And I have questions. Questions that I wanted answers to so much that I created my bunt/huddle/kick account this afternoon!
a) Are there any insert sets to collect, besides MOA, that will actually give you the bonus coins and/or card even if you finish it a month or two after it was released? Almost every insert set I see now seems to have a one-time payoff date - after that date passes, is there any value to collecting the set?
b) Those of you who do buy packs regularly, do you purchase a lot of the 5k packs at regular price, or do you wait for sales or specials? I have read elsewhere on this forum that there are suspicions of very, very long odds when they run pack sales - that they decrease the odds of inserts greatly.
c) Related to a), specifically, are they still giving the 10k bonus if you collect a Dynamic Duo insert pair, even if it was one of the first ones? It doesn't show up on the list of Awards currently, so I'm reluctant to pay a ton for a DD V-Mart if there isn't a bonus that comes with it. I thought it might be like the POTW cards, where they're really only good for coins for a week, and then they're just another expired insert.
I'm sure I'll think of more, but thanks in advance!

Bump. Should I move this to another more-frequented forum?

One time bonus on the duo. One the award time gas come and gone, it is just an insert. It will maintain some value, as there is a secondary chase but being it is not the lower ct it's value is diminished.

No other set gives points long after it is released. Most run the one week time frame. As far as insert packs. They are trying hard to run the non-paying player out. Odds are horrific, inserts never slow down, and rewards are a crapshoot.

Thanks, ravenstang. I'm thinking of buying in at a rate of maybe $25 a month - I figure with the free coins I also rack up, that should put me pretty close to opening a 5000-coin-pack a day, which will hopefully net me at least a few inserts every month. Not much, but enough to trade with and keep me semi-interested.
It does sound like it would cost me a lot more than that, though, to actually try and run down an entire insert set before the reward expiration date. Bummer. So the chasers are likely spending, what, about $100 a month plus trading?
As an experiment before I paid up, I bought 8 insert packs today with the Captain Sale going on. Got 2 inserts, the same card, actually. So - a moderately successful test. Enough to get me to sink my first $25 into the game, I guess.
Do most people pay for the full-price 5000-coin packs? Do they seem to be watered down during these sales?

Do they seem to be watered down during these sales? my advice to you would be to understand that this is for purely entertainment so 25 a month is relatively not bad just realize you will not get much back in return if you decide to sell some of your inserts.Do not buy packs unless there's a special pack of some kind with guarenteed insert of some kind. with the way topps is running opening packs at full price is a crapshoot because chances are you will not get anything more than some base with very limited gold usually non sp. Save your coin til the playoffs not much time until then they are probably saving the good designs until the seasons over and playoffs start

Always better to wait for special packs.
You could spent 15k on 3 of the other packs and get 15 base cards. Might pull a insert but most likely you won't get any inserts.
If your looking for inserts, it's better to wait for the black pack which is normally 15k with 1 guaranteed insert.
Another way to get inserts is to flip them for older inserts. If your not going for the award, flip the newer inserts for multiple older inserts. This is a good way to build your collection if your not going for the awards and just want to build your insert collection. This is how I obtained some of the older lower count inserts that still hold value.
For example when I pulled BJ Upton Duo(425). I traded it for David Price Draft(200) and 2 other inserts.
Also pulled Cespedes Tribute 2(1500)the first day it was released and was able to get Smyly Black Boost(1200) for it.
