I am guessing the results will be Trout and Cabrera....
But I also noticed no one asked for clarification. Are we voting on who the best player is THIS season? The best player career-wise who is currently on a roster?
If we go by active players, considering their whole career, my 5 would be:
Verlander (I wanted to include a pitcher, and it was either him or Kershaw....) Ichiro (2nd best hitter in baseball history) Pujols (not what he used to be, but earned his spot on this list) Jeter (how many records does he hold again? And 5 World Series to go along with silver sluggers, gold gloves....) Beltran/Cabrera (I cant decide. Miggy is better the last several years, Beltran has had a longer, more illustrious career)
Ultimately narrowing it down to 2, I would go with my heart and vote Jeter and Ichiro....My Captain and a player I have always loved watching hit (even though he played most of his career in the wasteland that was Seattle)

I'm sorry but a player who only plays every 5 days (Clayton Kershaw) shouldn't be leading the poll....although he may win the MVP this year for the NL (and deservedly so) there is a still a reason it is so rare that pitchers win the award. Their impact isn't big enough to be considered a top overall player. Although I'd consider kershaw top 5, I wouldn't put him in the top 2.

Sorry for any confusion. I will have more contests at some point and I invite you to participate in those.

I honestly think trout and stanton because they are so young and haven't even hit their pre so they will be much better when they get older and they still have there a lot more years in there career and have already completed some feats other who have played 10 years haven't. Overall I would probably pick trout but stanton is 2nd

Stanton is actually leading in votes I think. For mvp He probably lost his chance for MVP now since he's out for the year

Everyone's just forgotten about Buster Posey. I think he'll be in the MVP run. .313 average 20 HRs 85 RBIs
