I've been playing Huddle this season and, while I have enjoyed aspects of the game, there are some troubling trends forming.
1) Incomplete Sets
With regard to this issue, I point to the Kickoff and Trenches series of cards that have proven almost impossible to complete. My thought is that the Huddle staff expected pack consumption to rival that of Bunt. Unfortunately, it appears that the population of Huddle is either significantly lower than that of Bunt or are more averse to purchasing packs. Having sets require cards that have counts in the single digits just seems fruitless and ultimately kills the motivation to purchase more packs to complete these impossible sets.
2) Repetitious Images
I am certain this has more to do with image rights than anything else, but I also suspect that there is a lot of work that needs to be done to edit team logos off of images to comply with TM laws. Huddle still does not have NFL licenses, only NFLPA which means that they cannot use team logos as of yet.
3) Cost
It's always about the money and I get that. You can be as active or as inactive as you want in these games. However, I fail to see why there cannot be a reduction in pack prices from 5000 coins to 2000 coins. This makes the product more palatable and reachable for the general market and obviates the need to appeal to the "whales" as explained in the video posted on this site a week ago. This may even attract greater audiences and bring an improved dynamic to the game. This comment goes for all of Topps digital offerings.
4) QA Testing
Ok, this is a pet peeve of mine. Why are the developers of the app allowed to keep inserts that are already so incredibly rare that it causes issues, like #1? I would think that the developers would be able to test the packs in a sandbox environment such that what they pull does not affect the overall market for these inserts. You have 9 Kickoff Rodgers cards out there and ToppsIan is one of them. That's not right. Developers, outside of articles and conversations with players, should be independent arbiters.
Anyway, that's what is on my mind right now. Still pissed about the Kickoff and Trenches series being so impossible to complete. Not to mention to unfulfilled awards (Brees GM?)

The 5,000 coin packs just aren't worth it. I raided the rookie packs in Huddle, now I pick and choose. But no more blind pack opening like I did when I first started Bunt. 4) QA Testing - This one just seems bizarre to me. When McDonald's has a promo, an employee or family of an employee had better not be caught ever winning a prize. Not only are employees pulling the best cards, they're also playing in the contests. At least one of them was in the Thursday night coin chase with multiple boosts.

well put.
its tough for me to swallow the chases. im a collector at heart so i like to chase things. when the kickoff set's first grouping sold out and we learned that there were only 9 rodgers (well, 8 available) and the lynch was <20, that virtually made the rest of them useless from a chase standpoint. i was trading kickoffs EASILY for 2013 sigs during the first 3 days. after ppl figured out that they werent going to finish the set, it was much, much harder to trade all the kickoffs i had piled up. quite a bummer. at least i have low count inserts though, i guess thats some consolation.
the photo thing also gets me. if you see 2013s cards you'll notice that they had to reuse pics a bit too so im not entirely surprised. however, when you have 2-3 inserts for guys like lynch (sig, 84 anniversary, all the base) and they are all of the same photo, its not really that much fun to collect them.
finally, there are definitely WAY less ppl on huddle. probably 6-8x less - at least. the fact that i decided to dump all my point cards yesterday and only played greens and reds and didnt swap out players since i missed the entire game... and still finished in the top 200 (check that, top 150 after the boost guys lost their points) then i REALLY dont need any of my golds or silvers after i get the bonus coins for them. im pretty sure there are less than 5k ppl playing for points since one guy mentioned that he put in only whites and only changed for each DAY (not game) and got a boh card.

and yes, employees of companies running contests are not allowed to win anything. same for contests on the radio etc. i get that they need to test in production but if they pull inserts etc they need to cycle those back into the market - even more so when there's only 9 of a given card.

I know they have ability to test product without pulling from actual packs or giving themselves cards. So they should not hold on to cards that are so rare. Not fair to paying customers. But there marketing is way off base and there driving there core fans away

Not only are they pulling the rare cards and keeping them, you have people like ToppsMike openly stating that they do this on the chats. And, he stated so with the remark of that it was part of the perks of working for Topps. Blatent slap in the face is what it is.

Employees at Microsoft don't get to take home tons of X-Box consoles for free because they work for Microsoft. Yes, they get a discount, but they still have to PAY for the merchandise. What an assclown.

Would that impact the reputation and/or sales of the XBOX - I think so. How in the world does Topps allow this to happen???

One of the things that I have noticed is that there are some really intelligent people who are on these apps. After all, it does cost money to partake for on the level many of us are, and I have the feeling that most of us work pretty hard for that pay. If Topps had any clue at all, I mean ANY clue, they would reach out to their users (actually investors is what we should be considered) and see what they could do to improve. Not only is there any self-evaluation in place it seems, but they lack the ability to improve based upon other comments or suggestions to do so.
I started on this app and quickly thought that it had the power to be very successful given the future of digital products. Given what I have seen in the last few months, I have to say that I am skeptical as to whether this app can now make it another 1 or 2 years at the current pace it is at.
