Some of you may remember that more than a few months ago, I became active on the site as riceowl25. I was really enjoying the game and heavy into trading. One of the things I was really beginning to enjoy was giving away cards. I had worked very hard to get lots of inserts and had started to give back a little. But it wasn't long before I became too involved in the game and even though I never spent a dime (difficult as that was), it was affecting my marriage.
So I quit and gave away everything (FINs, SaberStars - man I miss that Kershaw Saber and Harper FIN!).
I am back now with perspective. I have been playing since January 16th and have not let it consume me. A few people have helped me get back started and I have met some new friends via Twitter and trade. Never again will I let an app consume me or take time away from my wife (and now 3 foster kids and 1 biological child on the way...all since I first quit the game!). I needed to get some perspective and some control. Thankfully I think I have achieved that. I made a promise to myself that if I ever felt the way I felt before - constantly worrying over trades, always mad that others had so much other stuff than me - that I would quit immediately (and of course give my cards away again...because why should they disappear into nothingness?).
As much as I would love to re-acquire some the awesome 2014 cards that I loved, my current goals are slightly more modest. All I am aiming for is a few things. If you would like to help me get those few things (either directly or with trade help), I would appreciate it. My desire is to keep track of anyone who ever helps me and eventually pay them back. If that's something you would like to do then just mention seeing this on BHK and I will find a way to return the favor.

Quick Update:
I have acquired 4 of the 5 cards on my true "absolutely want" list. The only one left on that list is the George Spring Finest card. I know it's hard, so I am looking more for things to help get it.
Currently I have 7 of the Saber Set and looking for anyone to help me get a few more. Happy to send anything from the Star Wars app your way for Bunt as well.

Acquired Springer!
Now up to 10 Sabers thanks to some lucky pulls in the Star Wars app and cross trading. Still looking for help with Sabers.

Yeah, as fun as this app is, there is no reason it should get to the point of ruffling up real life. If you find yourself in that position again, I would uninstall and never look back. The marriage and the kids are much more worth it than getting into a tizzy over some teenager's behavior or some company's moneymongering schemes.

Completely agree! Thankfully it's been much better this time around! I have gone multiple days without even looking at the trade board because I honestly have nothing I want to trade. Instead of sacrificing something I like in the name of making trades - and feeding the addiction - I have just enjoyed the cards I have. It's been so much more fun because I'm not stressed and not losing sleep thinking about trades. I have built up to 12 Sabers though...going to have to get lucky with a pull to get more.  |

Someone asked me if I was getting excited for 2015 and the answer is both yes and no. I am always excited to see new things in this app, but in just being honest, I don't want to get too sucked in. It will be easy to fall into the "I don't get good cards and everyone else does" trap that leads to frustration and obsession in trading. And in truth, I want to finish the Saber Star set more than anything. I just love those cards. So yes, I am excited for new cards, new features and new opportunities...but probably not as excited as I could be.
The list of SS that I still need (6) is listed in the Trade Section.

You're in the same boat that I'm in. I've caught myself getting a little too vested in this thing at times. It's fun and can definitely be addicting. I have to convince myself that I don't have to have every card they release, which isn't easy to do when you look at those with great accounts. I tend to get a little green with envy. That said, I think I'll have a better handle on things this time around. Looking forward to seeing what's new in the app and playing for points but definitely going to try and limit my obsession this year.

Although I really don't think I will be playing for points unless my wife goes out of town for work or there are a lot of day games close together! I have always had to fight that feeling of "Why does everyone else have so much cool stuff and I don't!?!" feeling. Definitely my own fault but definitely what I am fighting against to make sure this stays fun for me. That being said, I realized earlier today that it might be annoying to some that I am writing about this stuff on this board. You probably think "grow up" or "I don't care"...which I completely understand. I just think it helps me stay focused and hopefully get to hear from some guys in similar positions/experiences. |

Don't see any problem in writing about it. Heck, I was glad to see I wasn't the only one that gets that way. I don't think it's an issue of growing up either, it's pretty much human nature to want the best of things. This app is probably even easier to fall into that category b/c it is "just an app" and you would think perfection would be easily attainable. It isn't. This app is definitely hard to compete in, there are those that spend tons of money/time in getting to be the whales so to speak. I just have realized that with life, I don't have that kind of time or money lol.
I do enjoy it and will continue to play when I can. Just won't sink quite as much time into it this season most likely. I know my wife would love that.
BTW...love this site and being able to talk with fellow players. My wife hates this app and doesn't even begin to entertain the idea of conversation about it haha.

My wife doesn't love it either, however I just recently started selling some Star Wars cards on eBay and now she's considering joining in to get a little extra spending money! Keep up the talk about it, maybe we should make this the official "Bunt Support Group" thread haha

Haha yeah it's very helpful to hear other guys dealing with the same balance issues of the game and home life. The one time I went all-in to play for points was almost the breaking point for her. I got in the top 500 and won a Darvish BoB (as a Rangers fan that was awesome)...but not something I can do again. I offered to sell cards on eBay before I gave everything away but she thought it would just fuel the fire. She was probably right |

This game is sooooo disappointing . It's not good. How does an addition worsen a game? This isn't Star Wars. Parallels? We're for baseball. im not playing this game anymore
