I personally say Mike Trout. He batted .326 with 30 home runs and 182 hits.

If you vote anything besides Trout you need to re-evealuate your baseball watching......his rookie year was historic. No one since Fredd Lynn had had a rookie year like that.

I agree on trout but Jose Fernandez was an amazing pitcher especially while playing for a horrible team like the marlins. I find Fernandez and Trout equal, anyone agree. It's hard to compare a batter and fielder to a pitcher. Trout got a lot more playing time and Fernandez played every moment they could put him in. So I find them equal

I just feel like Trout completely turned his team around when he got called up. If you compare his stats to every rookie in the history of the MLB he ranks 1st is many of them and thats even with him missing the first 3 weeks of the season because he was in the minors. While Fernandez's season was great, it wasn't one of a kind like Trout's. There are many people I can think of who have had rookie seasons like Fernandez (Fernando Valenzuela, Hideo Nomo). I just base it on how rare of a season it was for all these players and in my opinion, Trout's was the most rare for a rookie.

Well I agree but, Fernandez was playing for one of the worst teams in baseball and even if instead of Fernandez they had Ortiz or even trout, no one can turn that around.

I think WAR is really interesting with rookies because it shows just how big of an impact they had in their first year. Mike Trout made the Angels 10.0 wins better in 2012. The only other guys that even come close are Pujols (7.5), Ichiro (6.0), Longoria (5.4) and Tulo (5.2) in their respective rookie years. Hard to compete with that.
