The Slow Base Collecting Climb Has Begun

Collecting whites, greens and reds, even the sold out ones, were possible.  I threw around a bunch of duplicates and a few blues to get what I sought after.  Now that those are collected, the Wall of Paybuntorelse has risen up in front of me.  What a drag it is, as a free-to-play player, to have to save up for 75,000 coins to get 1-2 gold and 4-6 blues!  

I had no illusions earlier in the season that collecting the blue/gold set would be tough, but doing the math it seems like it will take the rest of the season to get the blue set through furious duplicate trading.  This estimation is only possible, of course, if they never release a second set of cards.  Gold set, pfff, forget it.

What do you think the best strategy is for acquiring blues and/or golds?  Hold out for the 75k packs or try to flip easy inserts (1 in every pack!) for blue/gold base?

Buy the get an insert in every pack early as possible. Then trade 'em. I get lots of older slow count cards that I need, do that. But after the guaranteed packs have been out for 12 hours, the frenzy subsides. Difficult to sit on coins waiting though. It's always easier to build last years sets using this years cards. Either way, have fun.

That's a good idea and I'll see if I can jump on the guaranteed insert packs early to see if anything comes of them.  I kick myself for not going after the softball ones (don't recall if they were guaranteed) as they sold out quick and those inserts have a very small count.  "It's always easier to build last years sets using this years cards." makes me think that I should just wait until 2016 to get those tricky blues/golds.  In the meantime, having fun will be fine.  Thanks for the tips.
