The only two reasons that I can think of as to why Simon was not included are a) his ERA is a teensy bit high compared to most of the other All-Stars and b) they wanted to diversify (is that even a word??) the pitching selection by not having too many SP's on the roster. Understood. He may be added depending on who pitches Sunday |

Understood. He may be added depending on who pitches Sunday Cueto, Bumgarner, and Ross are all slated to start Sunday barring weather problems so that may be Simon's last hope at an All-Star bid. But who knows if he's first in line. |

EDIT: Scratch that, Ross has a higher ERA and WHIP AND he has a losing record. The only run scored in all of Ross' losses was batted in by him.....Street should've been the only Padre in. Ross is a great pitcher, but just like all the other Padres starters, he doesnt have any run backup at all....Either way he's not playing cause he starts on Sunday. Could be a chance for Simon to get in there. |

UPDATE: Jordan Zimmermann came out of his start today with an injury. Guessing it's an upper body injury as he "showed no signs of limping" and reportedly "jogged down the steps of the dugout".
