Hello Fellow Bunters - did not really see a thread commenting on overall impressions of the new app for 2015, so here goes:
Wow, what a change...I have now played three contests over 2 days of real baseball and they don't really work for me...first, there is little to no banter on the feed except to trade and complain about bugs. As they randomly choose the groups we are in for the contest, we have no say in who we compete against (do we ?). That makes it hard to chase PTS for fun and banter, makes trades strategically, etc.
I also don't like the lack of weekly and season long points...the awards are minimal for winning daily like 2.5k coins ? Even 10k coins or a pack seem light and Topps should offer awards like the baseball gloves last yr as we escalated PTS over season...that was fun to track. While it is nice to take a day off here and there and not be penalized for it, I find this format hard to embrace for the camaraderie of the app.
And inserts - I can't keep up ! So many - which is a positive, but can't chase all of them with the pay for coins daily to access packs mentality now. Wow - that really creates a class structure for Bunt now. Even if you collect cards with coins you get for free, the way the odds work for gold/blue, you will get very few if any except thru trades. No wonder I have won 3 contests in free play...as I buy coins (A LOT), I get those packs.
Anyway - some thoughts. I will continue to play and hopefully enjoy by getting more competitive, but I hope they do weekly contests ASAP and level playing field for packs. I don't want 59 Saltamacchia white base cards haha.

My main impression is that they've taken something that was fun (basically because it was easy) and have made it as complicated as humanly possible. So many steps and so confusing just to set lineups. Lineups are so tiny that you can't even tell who you have in your lineup.
Anyway. Good luck attracting new users. They're likely to spend a half hour wondering what the hell they are looking at before they hit the uninstall button. Pretty sure they are retaining any users at all only because of the time and money that they/we have invested/blown. New users will be few and far between. Easy good. Difficult bad...

I really liked the idea of the contests, the execution has been less than great and it is way too complicated to play cards, especially the fact that you have to remember to save or the cards don't stay in.

Touched on this in another thread. I like the league idea, I just wish the overall play was the same as years past. This year, with the deck add on, it's incredibly complicated and quite the pain in the butt. I don't like having what cards I can play limited or having to remember to add them. I would prefer each user be limited to playing in one league per day rather than limiting cards to each league.
Also, the task of trading is made more complicated by decks as well. With cards being locked and no apparent way to know if they are (especially if you use auto build) it's hard to get trades to go through. I've gotten to the point that after a league starts, if I'm playing, I'm not even going to bother trading. It's not worth the hassle, I'll just wait until the next day to trade again.
Overall, the app isn't as bad as I thought. It could definitely use some improving though.

I greatly miss the overall rankings. I played for points all last year with the goal of making it in the top 100 for the season. I also loved playing to try and get as good of a BOB (Best of Bunt) card as I could.
On a related note, since there are no overall rankings I don't care as much to play for points and can allow Bunt to not be as time consuming! So on second thought, maybe this is a good thing for me! :-)

I'm enjoying it somewhat, but I fear for the future of Bunt if they don't make some kind of big philosophical changes. The community / player pool definitely seems to be drying up. In the first couple days, any insert at all was sold out in 24 hours, even those behind the paywall. But either because of the odds, the paywall, or just the avalanche of insert releases, that's not happening anymore. After today there will be 13 active Gypsy Queen inserts in those packs - none have sold out yet. And the Springer signature pack is still in the store almost 24 hours later - the Trout sold out in about an hour last week. People aren't chasing. And if nobody is chasing, then I have no one to trade inserts with.
And this is only about one day removed from their normal purge of stale inserts through the VIP packs - they can't turn around and do those every few days, can they?
Finally, if anyone from Bunt staff is reading this, I still have a few major bugs on Android:
1) Any message that I post on an article, contest feed, or even in a 1-1 trade, gets also copied and automatically posted to the Fan Feed. Pretty annoying.
2) When building a deck for a contest, there is a bar at the top that tells me how many cards I've put into my deck, but there isn't a counter to tell me how many boosts I've put in. If I accidentally go over the boost limit, which happens often without any way to see how many I've selected, all my progress is reset and I have to start over. It makes me reluctant to spend any time entering these contest for the paltry prizes that are offered.

The changes from 2014 to 2015 are tough to adjust to, but I can see how Topps is working with scalable architecture to allow a feasible future with Bunt and other apps. The 2014 design was not going to be sustainable with any growth. The 2015 design needs some work, but allows for growth and many more options.

This year, with how hard it it just setup a lineup, and then, not sure who you are playing.. IF you are a whale, why would you not go easy pickings and play the free league with your golds and win each daily rookie contest? I feel left out of most contests and that I really dont know where I place in the whole system of points.. We wil see if they make adjustments, but I think this is the new norm and anyone who is F2P is going to feel left out.. |

The points playing that has changed is annoying sometimes in my opinion. I did manage to get 1st in my contest with a bunch of whites, not switching out any players, and not using the full points. I was rewarded with 2.5k coins. Thanks Topps...........

I cannot even build a deck because cards wont load and my trades seem to take 2 days just to go thru (when they do). I dont receive my daily coins either most of the time. Does anybody know if this is just an android bug they are working on fixing because its terribly frustrating. I cannot even trade to build a collection let alone attempt playing...wasting far to much time trying!

I have a question fir everyone.. I have 295 white base cards. I looked in the deck and it shows an Arenado leather as being part of the set..Is this error on Topps part, since the blue an red both show 295 cards for the set. I have refreshed this and it still shows up..Should I uninstall then re install the app??

Luckily, you can "borrow" it to score the reward. Look me up if you want a loaner  |

I am not a fan of the new games, but there are some things I like. I do like locking the decks one has to use a little more strategy and not everyone can play every game. But playing the cards is tough. I do not have the greatest eyes and it is tough to pick from the little images. I have had trouble saving the cards. I am sure that will not be a problem for a long time. Last year it was just so easy to play, now it is about 5 steps. It really does not matter that much to me. It costs me nothing and it passes the time as I try to complete my Oakland Athletics Bunt master set. Of course the set that cost me nothing will simply vanish in a few years while the 1956 Topps set graded PSA 7 or better that I do pay for I will be able to give to my children.
