I'm sure it's also much more time efficient to do mug shots Vs airbrushing all the logo's out.

This will ruin HUDDLE. You might as well recoup as much as you can before it's too late

To me, there are two extremely important questions that need to be answered for transparency and accountability if I am ever going to trust them enough to be willing to purchase coins again: 1. Why have you made this change? 2. When did you know you were going to make this change? The answer to #1 is fairly obvious at some level, but they still need to answer it directly. The answer to #2 is extremely important to any sense of integrity and honesty. This Q&A, so far, is a complete disaster. If they don't answer the real questions, they would have been better off staying silent. i did think it was a bit strange or at least odd timing that after an EC release (watt) where they let it go for a week but then change it to 24-hr for peyton and mccoy kinda strange. add the super quick chases for the internationals and for the inception - even tho they said it was going to be a 300 count chase - even stranger. it took well over a week just to get the charles black boost to sell out at 250.

so they probably cant answer a lot of questions related to the mug shot deal - lots of legalities i'm sure. i'm actually "ok" with the idea of mug shot cards (see 2013) as long as they can put together a ton of REALLY NICE looking borders - ala the inception design. even the sig design did the non-logo action shot some real justice. not sure why they think something like bunt's FC and huddle's FC cards look so bland. i mean, becoming an FC is such a cool thing for a collector - why make it the worst design of the lot? They can't give details, but they can answer the question in general. Even if the answer is as simple as saying something like this: "We know that many of you love the action shots, and we do too. We even built our marketing for this year around it to some extent (#NoMoreMugshots). But unfortunately, for reasons beyond our control, we have to go back to using headshots of players for the foreseeable future. We will work hard to make our cards as beautiful and interesting as we can going forward, and we hope you'll still be excited about collecting and playing your cards in HUDDLE." I don't work in PR, and I'm not a lawyer, but that really wasn't very hard.

when will Topps realize we can deal with changes if they are just open with us about them, its PR 101, say something while not saying anything, like NFL coachspeak, something like "we try to make the best app we can, we love the NFL as much as you do, we are making changes that we cannot discuss right now but we love our app and our fans, new cards are coming soon, thanks for the support #toppsnation, and that is just off the top of my head..

and whether they answer the question or not, we will know a little more when we see the next EC release and whether or not its a 24-hour window. personally, i dont mind the 1-day turnaround. keeps the chase intense and keeps the card counts low - just like a ton of 2013 inserts. bunt got a bit flooded so im fine with it.
but if the EC chase is allowed to last for a week like watt, then that might give us some insight to whether or not they knew ahead of time that they would have to do this today.

well i see now that after an hour into the Q&A they posted a response to the "why" question, that is all you had to do Topps, next time put in the article first, why do they make it so hard on themselves, they could have avoided an hour of the Q&A article of why, why, why, why being posted, they shoot themselves in the foot more often than not, but it continues as two questions in the Q&A point out more mistakes, that new cards reading 2013 and having two white Fitzgeralds when one should be a green, where is their quality assurance team? do they not employ a proof-reader? seems to be they only have 8-10 base cards in the packs, must only have one poor person who knows how draaw in the photoshop program

In light of their written non-answer to the "why" question, I think the most charitable explanation for all of this is that they were hit with a swift and serious cease and desist letter yesterday after the Kelvin Benjamin card was released without the logos removed. Someone from NFL licensing or Panini had been watching this app like a hawk, and immediately pounced when they saw the card out there for distribution.
If that is the case, it makes sense of what happened and absolves them of the worst-case scenario, which is that they knew about this before Sunday morning (or even worse, before Thursday night), and all the inserts and chases were trying to milk the last bit of milk out of a dying cow.
In any case, their handling of this so far is worthy of a different pastoral metaphor: killing the golden goose.

That's crazy. This also means that the Inception series is going to be very short-printed, along with any other inserts that just came out. Wow. A lot of chases just got short-circuited. I got a beast mode end zone marathon insert today in a pack

There is no reason they couldn't answer the "why" question unless they are actively engaged in litigation and even then, changing up like that would indicate they lost and panini got an injunction against them. Seems unlikely something like that wouldn't be noticed since it's public information.
There's certainly nothing preventing them from saying 'we currently don't have the rights to these images'. It just hurts business
I think the real "why" is topps assured everyone that huddle was going to be just fine when panini acquired the rights to the nfl and it's obviously not going to be the same. I don't have much if a huddle account but I'm certainly not buying now.
